CAROUSEL CARVING AND CUSTOM CARVING |
I am a third generation woodcarver, and I carve carousel horses as well as many other
types of animals. The tools I use are the same tools used by my Father
and Grandfather. My Father was one of the three sculptors who carved the
famous 27 ft. tall Iwo Jima statue in Quantico, Virginia, in stone. (See photo
below). My Grandfather made fine inlaid furniture and furniture with carvings.
Recent things I have begun doing are making glass-topped tables
with carved animals for legs, and carved Coat-Of-Arms. I would appreciate
an e-mail to: larjer@tds.net with any comments or suggestions you may have about my work or this web site.
The following are testimonials from a few of my customers, and a photo of me
carving a horse. Picture a once-inanimate object brought to life and you get a sense of the presence
of "Journey Proud", our carousel creature carved by Larry Pefferly. When
guests enter the foyer of our home, they are greeted by our custom-designed
palomino. Adults want to touch him; small children of course, want to ride.
Creating "Journey Proud" was a combined effort of Pefferly the naturally
talented carver, Pefferly the knowledgeable carousel artist, and Pefferly the
career horseman. We love our horse and are so proud to own a Pefferly.
Lynda Hollidge Round Hill, Virginia There are a few treasures in life; some handed down through the family, some purchased,
some are gifts. One of our most delightful treasures is our "Rocking
Fox". He is majestic, life-like, and exquisitely crafted by Larry Pefferly.
Our four grand-daughters have already spent many afternoons with him,
and we are certain he will be a "handed down" treasure for several generations.
Next, we hope to have one of Larry's hounds to accompany the fox in our
home. Dr. and Mrs. Bruce P'Pool Nashville, Tennessee My wife and I commissioned a personalized carousel horse for our daughter's playroom
in 1987. As we liked the quality and artistry so much, we asked him to
carve another horse with a different design and pose for our entrance hall in
1988. It is the first thing our guests see, and we are thrilled to have
both pieces in our home. Ben McKinnon Lenoir City, Tennessee |
